A Month at a Glance...

I had photo issues and am going to try and catch up for the month of March in one big blog post.

Samuel taught us about the Titanic.

He shared a piece of coal from the Titanic that was made into a necklace.

We worked on our February Learning Mural.

We began our animal inquiry.  First, we immersed ourselves in animal photos, models and artifacts.

Then we reorganized all the animal books in our library so they were easy to locate by type of animal.
That's a lot of animal books!
We read a lot of Steve Jenkins books and particularly enjoyed Actual Size.

We measured out a 23-foot Saltwater Crocodile...

We found out that our arm is almost as big as the Saltwater Crocodile's jaws!
We immersed ourselves in animal books.  We started recording interesting facts and new learning.

We worked with 4K on animal babies and we taught them how to record thinking on sticky notes.

Look at all that collaborative learning!
 We noticed how animals collaborate.
"Sometimes polar bears come to hunt together."

"Wolves howl together."
Mrs. Oss' 4K came back to investigate our animal resources and we continued to teach them about recording thinking on sticky notes during the Investigation Stage.

Zane taught us about his trip to Panama.

We each got a coin from Panama!

We even got a ukelele serenade. :)

We started our animal inquiry investigation groups.  First we gathered resources that had to do with our research group animal.
Finding photos...

Finding animal models...

Finding books...

Making labels for our research baskets...

Labeling our learning charts...
Gabbie taught us about giraffes.

We also made a cute giraffe snack made out of pretzel sticks and bananas!

What a great month!
