Marathon Readers!

Mrs. Going, our literacy coach, gave our class a book called Marathon Mouse.
This book is about a mouse named Preston who had a goal to run the New York City Marathon, even though many told him he couldn't do it.  He worked hard and practiced, practiced, practiced, until he finally did it.

We googled the New York City Marathon and got to see runners competing on the 26.2 mile course.

We talked about how runners need to practice a lot to get ready for races and work really hard to become better runners, just like readers have to work really hard and practice to get smarter at reading.
Andrew & Jorel...Marathon Readers...
Today in Reading Workshop, we were Marathon Readers.  We set a goal to read specific chosen books and we pushed ourselves to read, read, read for the whole Reading Workshop. Once we finished a book, we moved it to the other side of the folder and then Preston (the Marathon Mouse) called us Marathon Readers.

We are really working on building our reading stamina.  The longer we can read, the more books we can read...and the more books we read, the stronger readers we become!
Look at these strong readers...
This was our most focused Reading Workshop, yet.

Did you reach your marathon reader goal today?  What did you read?
