Actual Size Animals

For the next few days we were busy getting our animal posters ready.  First we skimmed our resources for numbers that would give us information about how big our animal was.
Once we found out, then we got paper that was an appropriate size for our animals and started sketching!  I told them to "think big, and think fat."

A giant squid takes up quite a lot of paper...a 10 foot long mantle and 10 foot long arms!

When you're creating a 22 foot long reticulated python, you need extra l-o-n-g paper!

Next, we painted our animals.
Giant Squid

Polar Bear

Red Wolf

Endangered Mountain Gorilla

Penguins

Gharial/Gavial
After we painted, we cut out our animals.  We worked on the habitat and glued our animals on the backgrounds.

Finally, we worked on labels for functional parts, titles, and Fun Facts.

Working on a project like this takes some serious collaboration!
You'll have to wait until the Exploration Celebration to see the finished projects!
