Our First Few Days

We're off to a great start in Room 408!  We have already had two full days of learning and growing together.
We have started our mornings off with The Good Morning song.


Another favorite has been The Fifty Nifty.

 We have practiced opening and closing our Poetry Notebook binders safely, and added a few poems about Nickels and Pennies.

(Oh, the clicking of the binders!)

We love activity time where we have been able to choose from math tubs.

We have also been problem solvers!  The water fountain in our classroom isn't working, so we wrote a letter to our custodian.

We recorded our first bit of thinking in our Think Books while we got lost in reading books.

We started talking about our Hopes & Dreams for first grade by reading a book about Philipe Petit called The Man Who Walked Between The Towers.

Room 408 was surprised to find out that this was a true story!

Here is the newscast from that morning back in 1974.

Philipe had a dream to walk on a high wire between the Twin Tower buildings, and didn't stop until he had accomplished his dream.  You'll have to wait until Hopes & Dreams night to find out our Hopes & Dreams!
